Hábitos alimentares e estilo de vida de um grupo de docentes de uma instituição de ensino superior privada de Montes Claros- MG

Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the eating habits and lifestyle of teachers at a Private Higher Education Institution in Montes Claros-MG. This is a descriptive study, cross-sectional and qualitative-quantitative approach carried out online, with 49 professors who taught at a private college located in Montes Claros-MG. For data collection, the Food Frequency Questionnaire and questions related to eating habits and personal data such as age, weight, height, marital status and lifestyle, were sent via Google forms to the institutional e-mail of the professors. Most professors were overweight, with 53.1% being overweight according to the Body Mass Index. Teachers had a low weekly consumption of fruits and vegetables. There was an association between the sexes and the weekly consumption of some cereals and tubers and filled cookies (p<0.05). About 75% of women and 61.9% of men reported that they perform some physical activity in their free time. Teachers need special attention in relation to nutritional status, eating habits and health in general, especially the male group, to reduce excess weight, improve quality of life and prevent the emergence of pathologies
