Profile of injuries resulting from occupational accidents from 2009 to 2019 in Palmas, Tocantins

Abstract

Objective: to know the profile of injuries resulting from occupational accidents from 2009 to 2019 in Palmas, Tocantins. Method: data from 2119 individuals who were victims of work accidents were analyzed and registered in the database of the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN). From these individuals, data on sex, race, education, types of injury and affected parts were collected. Results: the most frequent sociodemographic profile was male (83.20%), brown (79.75%) and with complete high school (29.59%). There was a predominance of fractures (69.99%), injuries to the lower limbs (30.49%) and upper limbs (26%). Conclusion: the data collected reflect the profile of the most common workforce in Palmas: brown-skinned men with low education exposed to accidents that involve a lot of kinetic energy, which can be observed by the predominance of fractures compared to other injuries.
