Profile of Burn Victims Resulting from Work Accidents in Palmas, Tocantins
Abstract
Aim: to identify the profile of burn victims resulting from occupational accidents from 2009 to 2019 in Palmas, Tocantins. methodology: data from 102 victims of occupational accidents who were registered in the database of the Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN) were analyzed. From these individuals, the following data were collected: gender, age group, education, diagnosis of the injury, circumstance of the accident, regimen and evolution of the cases. Results: the most frequent sociodemographic profile was of male individuals (82.35%), aged within 20 and 39 (62.75%), with high school education degree (21.57%). There was a predominance of burns of the head, neck, and upper limbs ranging within first, second, and third degree burns (37.25%). Workers in the construction industry were more affected (27.45%). The exposure to electric power, fire and combustion were the most prevalent circumstance of the accident (77%), the hospital treatment was the most sought (76%) and the evolution for cure occurred in 29% of the cases. Conclusion: the data collected reflect the most common profile of workers in Palmas: young men, with low education, working in civil construction and exposed to electric power, fire and combustion.
