Psychological prenatal care and the role of the psychologist in the gestational period

Abstract

The model of care for pregnant women during prenatal care has been increasingly influenced by humanized practices within the Unified Health System (SUS), these changes bring with them the need to look at the emotional health of the pregnant woman aiming at psychological monitoring with the already existing model of prenatal care, which can be named Psychological Prenatal. The study sought to understand how Psychological Prenatal care can help pregnant women and how the psychologist's performance can contribute to maternal mental health during the pregnancy cycle. A systematic literature review was carried out, based on the search for scientific articles in the Virtual Health Library (BVS), SciELO and technical manuals from the Ministry of Health that deal with the topic. Resulting in the demonstration of the role of the psychologist in the gestational process, aiming at the biopsychosocial well-being of the pregnant woman and the baby.
