Work ergonomics in professionals in the health area

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the ergonomic situations of health professionals in laboratories in the cities of Itacarambi - MG and Montes Claros - MG. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive study with a quantitative and transversal approach that evaluated 19 professionals from clinical analysis laboratories, between the months of September and October 2022. A questionnaire created by the researchers was used to assess the main physical complaints of employees. In addition, some instruments such as Symmetrograph, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and Check-List were used. Results: There was a predominance of females, aged between 23 and 64 years, where 52.6% perform physical activity, and complain of neck pain, leg pain and also physical fatigue. The risks exist due to the amount of time employees carry out their activities in the seated posture, alternating with the standing posture, thus generating overload on the musculoskeletal structures. Conclusion: Even with good bio-mechanical conditioning, it is necessary to pay attention to making adaptations to work stations to avoid the development of musculoskeletal disorders, as well as reduce fatigue and absence rates
