Physiotherapeutic Interventions in the Treatment of Patelofemoral Pain Syndrome
Abstract
Introduction: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is also a patellar chondropathy which can be defined as a chronic disorder. Objective: To verify which are the most effective physiotherapeutic procedures used in the treatment of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome from researches and studies analyzed. Materials and methods: The sample consisted of 30 physiotherapists, for convenience, both sexes, aged 18 years or over, who have already undergone treatment for PFPS, in the city of Montes Claros. As a collection instrument, it was used an online questionnaire through the Google form consisting of 11 questions, being 3 subjective questions and 8 objective questions. Results: Those evaluated reported that most patients were female, aged between 19 and 30 years, with PFPS involvement in both the right and left knee, with 6 to 10 consultations/sessions and almost all of those investigated (90%) said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the physiotherapeutic treatment performed. The most used physiotherapeutic conducts in the treatment of PFPS were kinesiotherapy and massage therapy. Conclusion: It is concluded that based on the analyzed physiotherapeutic conducts, the kinesiotherapy stood out, through muscle strengthening exercises, showing mostly effective results to reduce algic picture, improve joint stability, increase the Q angle, strengthening all the muscles involved and providing improved flexibility.
