Abstract

After the research carried out, it was found that among the factors associated with depressive symptoms in puerperal women are: socioeconomic status, substance abuse, previous history of depression and sleep disturbance and lack of gestational planning. During prenatal and puerperal consultations, nurses carry out general interventions/guidance on care during these periods, but find it difficult to provide better care, and this professional is recommended not only the nursing consultation, but other strategies that help in the identification and intervention of PPD, however these women end up being directed to care with specialized professionals. It is necessary to create strategies to train nursing professionals and provide subsidies for them to care for women with postpartum depression in a humane and qualified way. In addition, it is suggested that further research be carried out on the topic addressed, in order to propose new results, directed to the nurse's performance with women with depression in the postpartum period.
