Abstract

Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of psychological violence against women in Rio de Janeiro through the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). Methodology: This is an ecological, cross-sectional and retrospective research with a quantitative approach. A quantitative survey was carried out in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) between the years 2017 and 2021 in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) in order to seek information on women victims of psychological violence from ten to sixty years of age or older. Results: there was stability in the number of notifications of cases of psychological violence between 2017 and 2020, however, there was a significant decrease in the year 2021, of 2,220 cases compared to the previous year, which demonstrates a reduction of approximately 35% in the notification, but these data differ from the real ones, where psychological violence is the most prevalent. Conclusion: It was possible to observe that the age group where the numbers appear higher correspond to the public between 20-29 years old, within an age assessment that corresponds to 10 years old to over 60 years old. It is up to this population aged 20-29 years to be investigated in greater depth in their mental health.
