Perfil fitoquímico e potencial biotecnológico do gênero Siparuna
Abstract
The genus Siparuna is known to have abundant ethnobotanical descriptions, which suggests the presence of promising secondary metabolites in the species. The aim of this study was to identify the phytochemical profile of the species belonging to the genus Siparuna and to verify their possible biotechnological applications. A systematic literature review was carried out by searching for scientific articles using the term Siparuna combined with the descriptor phytochemical. 195 secondary metabolites were identified, from the classes of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids and others. Controlled studies with the species of the genus confirmed various biological activities of pharmacological interest and with potential for biotechnological bioprospecting. These findings point to the possibility of using the species as biorepellents, for health treatments and to enable the bioprospecting of accessible compounds to obtain new technological bioproducts.
