Association between absence from work by workers as treatment for WRMSD
Abstract
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) and Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) are constant concerns in the area of occupational health due to functional overload. The absence from work aims to improve the health of workers diagnosed with RSI/WMSD. However, there are factors that interfere with the favorable evolution of this process, such as the appropriate time for removal. The objective of this study was to verify whether absence from work is associated with a greater chance of cure. Methods: longitudinal observational study, through data collection carried out from the Notifiable Diseases Information System in the period from 2007 to 2021. Results: Through the Odds-Ratio it can be understood that those individuals who improve with those who are away from work have an 85% greater chance of progressing to a cure compared to individuals who worsen after being away from work. Conclusion: the results demonstrate that those individuals who improve after being away from work have a greater chance of progressing with a cure when compared to individuals who worsen after being away from work. However, its contribution is questionable due to the need to include other determining factors for the patient's evolution, which are not present in the study analysis.
