Assesment of quality of life and physical activity level in children and adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic

an integrative review

Abstract

Introduction: The social isolation caused by COVID-19 had as consequences a low level of physical activity, a tendency to sedentarism, and poor diet, causing several physical, mental, and social disturbances in the lives of children and adolescents in this period. Objective: to review in selected studies the impact of social isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic on quality of life and physical activity in children and adolescents. Method: an integrative review was conducted using the PubMed, SciELO and PEDro bibliographic search, using the descriptors "physical activity" and "children" and "pandemic COVID-19" to evaluate the level of physical activity practiced by the participants and "quality of life" and "children`` and ''pandemic`` to evaluate the quality of life of the participants. Results: A total of 45 articles were found in the databases. However, only 18 were selected according to the eligibility criteria and thus, included in the research. Conclusion: There was a decrease in quality of life and physical activity among children and adolescents during the pandemic of COVID-19.
