Análise do perfil epidemiológico da mortalidade por suicídio em idosos no brasil no período de 2018 a 2021

Abstract

 

Introduction: With aging, there are situations that compromise the mental health of the elderly, influenced by socioeconomic and cultural factors. Suicide is associated with a mental disorder, where the person intentionally commits the act of killing himself. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of suicide mortality in the elderly in Brazil from 2018 to 2021. Methods: Epidemiological, descriptive, exploratory study, with a quantitative approach, where information on deaths in the Mortality Information System (SIM) was used. , through DATASUS and TABNET, through CID 10, in the following categories: X60-X84 (intentional self-harm), in all regions of Brazil, from 2018 to 2021. Results: 10,003 deaths were computed, with the highest number of deaths in the year 2021. The Southeast region was the most prevalent. The male gender was the most affected, aged 60-69 years, white color/race, with 12 years of schooling and more and married marital status. Conclusion: The transition to elderly life and socioeconomic and cultural conditions can be aggravating factors for suicide. The need to encourage the search for health services is evident, for the quality of life and well-being of the elderly.
