Abstract

Objective: to define and analyze the epidemiological profile of tuberculosis recorded in microregions of the state of Tocantins, Brazil. Methods: a retrospective descriptive epidemiological study based on data of the Brazilian databases DATASUS/Tabnet (Brazilian Unified Health System) and SIDRA/IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). We calculated the mean and standard deviation of the incidence rate, the cure rate, the treatment abandonment rate, and the average mortality rate of eight microregions in Tocantins between 2012 and 2021. Results: the standard deviation of four microregions showed significantly different annual incidence rates. The average incidence rate and cure rate for all microregions were higher than the national rates, while the treatment abandonment rate and average mortality rate were lower than the national rates. Conclusion: average incidence rates significantly differed, which suggests that the implementation of health care actions for tuberculosis has not been well distributed and continuous in the microregions of Tocantins.
