Abstract

Introduction:  Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the main isolated cause of death in Brazil, causing more than 60 thousand deaths per year. Numerous variables directly influence these values, including human resources and financial resources. Methodology: The data were obtained through DataSUS and correlated in the Jamovi software, using Pearson's R as the main measure. Results: There was no association between the number of hospitals, beds, doctors or health professionals in general. However, a correlation was found with the number of emergency offices and emergency beds. Discussion: Through the analysis of data crossings, it was found that the greater the availability of financial resources that enable immediate access to treatment, the fewer deaths caused. Furthermore, even with sufficient hospital units, the emergency ward associated with complementary areas need to be well structured. Furthermore, a good team performance, based on the adoption of protocols by a trained multidisciplinary team, is essential to obtain good results. Final considerations: Therefore, the importance of criterial analyses of the variables influencing the mortality rate of AMI is clear, enabling specific interventions, therefore, to a better prognosis and a lower number of deaths.
