Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile and clinical outcomes of snakebite accidents reported in Paraíba, Brazil, from 2019 to 2023. This is a descriptive, retrospective, and quantitative research based on secondary data from SINAN. A total of 3,047 cases were recorded during the period, with a predominance among males (73.8%) and individuals aged 40 to 59 years (34.7%). The Bothrops genus was involved in most accidents (48.5%), and the lower limbs were the most affected anatomical regions. Most victims received medical care within the first three hours after the bite, and 77.1% evolved to cure. Statistical analysis showed significant associations between clinical variables and case outcomes, especially regarding time to care. It is concluded that snakebite accidents follow a pattern similar to that observed in other regions of Brazil, and early medical care is a determining factor for clinical prognosis.
