Criptococose: conhecimento e percepção de moradores de Montes Claros-MG
Abstract
Objective: to investigate the level of awareness and perception about cryptococcosis by residents of Montes Claros-MG. Method: cross-sectional study, with a quantitative character and descriptive analysis. For the data, a semi-structured questionnaire was used, available online on the social media Instagram, Facebook and Whatsapp, with questions related to the population's knowledge about the birds breeding, and other points related to cryptococcosis. The Snowball method was used to conduct the research. Results: only 77 residents participated in the research, most of them are women aged between 18 and 25 years, with complete higher education and family income greater than three minimum wages. Most volunteers do not live near a pigeon farm; of those who live, a few stated that the residence borders the property and have already complained to the responsible ones about their activity. Most have heard about cryptococcosis, and recognize the fungus as the causative agent of this disease. Conclusion: cryptococcosis proved to be a known disease among the population, and that most participants are not pigeon breeders or have direct contact with them.
