Abstract

The aim of the work was to evaluate the response of different sizes of soybean seeds under different sowing densities. The experiment was conducted in the 2019 harvest, in a randomized block design, with three replications, in a 3 (density) x 3 (seed size) factorial scheme, totaling nine treatments. The BMX Zeus IPRO soybean cultivar was used. The characteristics evaluated were insertion of the first vegetable, stem diameter, plant mass, number of branches, number of vegetables in the lower, middle and upper third; number of vegetables with 1, 2, 3 and 4 grains; mass of vegetable grains with 1, 2, 3 and 4 grains; total grain mass, harvest index, thousand grain mass and grain productivity. For the seed size factor, only the characteristics number of vegetables with 1 grain and mass of vegetable grains with 4 grains showed a significant difference. As for sowing density, all characteristics, except for harvest index, had a significant effect for the different sowing densities, with grain productivity being higher for the lower densities due to the better performance of the grain productivity components.
