Abstract
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most common liver disease worldwide, with the potential to develop into serious complications. This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study that evaluated the association between disease perception, spirituality, nutritional status, and physical activity level of MSLD patients treated at a Hepatology Outpatient Clinic in Palmas, Tocantins. Data collection was performed using a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, a Lifestyle and Health Conditions Questionnaire, an Anthropometric Measurement Assessment Form, a Disease Perception Questionnaire, a Spirituality Assessment Questionnaire, and a Physical Activity Assessment Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 30 patients, most of whom were female (80.0%) and adults (66.7%). Significant, negative and moderate correlations were estimated between the cognitive representation of disease perception and the spirituality facets meaning in life, admiration, and faith. There was also an association on the borderline of statistical significance between disease perception and nutritional status. It was found that the patients in the sample studied presented, for the most part, a perception of greater threat imposed by the disease, a better quality of life in relation to spirituality, religion and personal beliefs, a nutritional state of high metabolic risk, however, a low frequency of sedentary lifestyle.
