Investigação da presença de fungos demáceos causadores de feohifomicose nos solos da Região Metropolitana de Goiânia
Abstract
Phaeohyphomycosis is a mycosis with diverse clinical manifestations and which affects several species of host, including humans. The etiological agents of phaeohyphomycosis comprise a large heterogeneous group of melanized fungi (dematiaceous). In immunosuppressed hosts, it is a challenging disease with a guarded to unfavorable prognosis. The aim of this research was to discover melanized fungi that cause phaeohyphomycosis in soils in the Metropolitan Region of Goiânia, Goiás. Soil samples were obtained from places where people and other animals circulate, whether domestic or synanthropic, from November 2023 to May 2024, incubated on Mycosel and Sabouraud agar at 26°C and sheltered from light. The slide culture was carried out on Potato Dextrose Agar. 111 fungal colonies were analyzed from a total of 119 cultures, with 4.50% (5/111) of the isolates being dematiaceous fungi, among them: 60% (3/5) of the genus Phialemonium spp., 20% (1/5) Curvularia spp. and 20% (1/5) Fonsecaea spp. The research discovered the presence of fungi that cause phaeohyphomycosis in the soils of public spaces in the Goiânia Metropolitan region, with a risk of infection for animals and humans.
