importance of sanitary education in dengue combat and prevention: an Integrative Literature Review

Abstract

Objective: To describe the role of sanitary education in the combat against dengue. Method: This is an Integrative Literature Review study. Data collection took place in May 2024, from the MEDLINE, LILACS, and BDENF databases, through the Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, PubMed, and Scholar Google. The headings "Educação Sanitária" and "Dengue" were adopted, along with their corresponding Mesh Terms "Sanitary Education" and "Dengue". Articles available in full text, published in the last five years, were included. Editorials, duplicated articles, literature reviews, theses, dissertations, monographs, and articles which deviated from the topic were excluded. Results and Discussion: After the search for articles, five were selected to compose the sample. Data was analyzed according to Content Analysis proposed by Bardin, in the Thematic Categorical mode, with the assistance of the IRaMuTeQ software, categorizing findings into three classes: "The role of sanitary education in combating arboviral diseases", "Home visits and their interface with the reduction of dengue mosquito breeding sites", and "Active methodologies: teaching tools for the community". Conclusion: The analysis of the selected articles evidenced that health education is fundamental in combating dengue, as it enables the community to acquire new habits, providing a better quality of life.
