O Papel do Psicólogo na Atenção Primária à Saúde: Uma Revisão Integrativa da Literatura

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the role of psychologists in Primary Health Care (PHC) within the context of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), through an integrative literature review. The search was conducted in the SciELO, BVS, LILACS, and Google Scholar databases, covering publications from 2000 to 2023. After applying eligibility criteria and assessing methodological quality, seven studies were included in the final analysis. The findings indicate that the psychologist’s role in PHC has been consolidating through practices focused on mental health promotion, psychosocial care, and the reorganization of work processes in health. Notable practices include active listening, reception, matrix support, collective interventions, and intersectoral articulation. Despite advances, challenges remain, such as professional training still centered on hegemonic clinical models, fragmentation of care practices, bureaucratization of work, and difficulties in institutional integration. It is concluded that the psychologist’s presence in PHC is strategic for strengthening comprehensiveness, intersectorality, and humanization of care, and it is essential to value practices that acknowledge the subjective and social dimensions of health.
