A Maneira de Ser do CER -Centro Especializado em Reabilitação
Abstract
This experience report aims to share reflections and learnings derived from direct participation in the project “The Way of Being of the CER”, developed at a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER). The initiative emerged from the need to create spaces for dialogue and sensitive listening between professionals and families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), recognizing the central role of affective relationships and shared responsibility in the therapeutic and educational process. The report describes the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of the intervention, which was structured through conversation circles, interactive activities, visual resources, and moments of collective reflection. Grounded in the theoretical perspectives of Paulo Freire, Maria Teresa Mantoan, and other scholars of inclusive education, this experience highlighted that listening, empathy, and bonding are transformative elements of institutional practices, fostering a deeper understanding of being and living with difference. From this experience,
it was possible to reaffirm that humanized care and dialogue are essential paths toward achieving genuine and participatory inclusion.
