FORMULATION AND STABILITY EVALUATION OF MOISTURIZING CREAM CONTAINING EXTRACTS OF HYMENAEA COURBARIL AND SALVIA OFFICINALIS
Abstract
The use of natural products as one of the components of cosmetic formulations has been widely used due to the search for natural formulations that provide benefits and meet consumer needs. The use of extracts or oils from medicinal plants has been used in formulations for this purpose, mainly to contribute to the increase in the variety of cosmetic products available. Considering the need of the cosmetic sector in the development of new formulations, as well as the benefits provided by the use of natural products, this work aimed to use extracts from the leaves of the Sálvia (Salvia officinalis) and Jatobá (Hymenaea courbaril) species for the production of moisturizing cream. The developed formulation was evaluated for its stability through organoleptic and physicochemical parameters, which demonstrated quality, stability, pH of 4.68 -5.75, in addition to good spreadability, harmonious color and pleasant odor. As a result, the moisturizing cream presented itself as a good product for skin care and hydration, following the parameters established by current regulations, in addition to including two species of plants in its formulation that resulted in an innovative product.
