Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are a major public health problem, especially in the elderly, who are often affected by multiple comorbidities. Rehabilitation programs with monitored physical activity and educational initiatives can promote improvements in quality of life and maintain functionality. Given this, this study aimed to identify the epidemiological profile of cardiovascular diseases and the quality of life of patients enrolled in a monitored physical activity program.  To this end, a training program study was conducted, with pre- and post-intervention assessments, using the SF-36 questionnaire to measure quality of life. The program included measurement of vital signs, supervised physical exercises, and educational guidance provided over 16 consecutive weeks. It was observed that the cardiovascular profile pointed to systemic arterial hypertension and dyslipidemia as the most prevalent risk factors. There was a statistically significant reduction in limitations related to physical, social, and emotional aspects. Domains such as functional capacity, general health status, vitality, and mental health did not show significant differences but remained stable, suggesting functional preservation. Structured and monitored cardiovascular rehabilitation programs associated with health education contribute to improving and maintaining quality of life, reinforcing the relevance of physical therapy for the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases.
