Impactos do uso excessivo de telas em crianças e adolescentes: consequências psicossociais e psicomotoras a longo prazo

Abstract

This study reviews the impacts of excessive screen use on children and adolescents, with an emphasis on long-term psychosocial and psychomotor consequences. An integrative review was carried out in the PubMed and LILACS databases, considering articles published between 2021 and October 2024. Key terms included “screen time”, “child development” and “children and adolescents”. Among the main findings, it was observed that prolonged exposure to screens can negatively affect the social, emotional and motor development of children and adolescents, increasing the risk of problems such as anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, obesity and language and skill deficits. motors. In early childhood, this exposure was associated with speech delays, reduced social interaction and changes in neuropsychomotor development. In adolescents, excessive use has been linked to a sedentary lifestyle, impaired academic performance and mental health problems. However, moderate and controlled use of media, especially with educational content, can bring benefits to cognitive and social development.
