Abstract

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that results in chronic pelvic pain. It is a very prevalent pathology, causing various repercussions on women's sexual health and quality of life. In this context, this study sought to analyze the effectiveness of the use of drugs to treat chronic pelvic pain associated with endometriosis. This research is an integrative review, and articles were searched using the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline) database, including randomized clinical trials published between 2018 and 2022 in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Eleven articles were selected and it was noted that the use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonists, dydrogesterone, nomegestrol acetate with 17 β-estradiol, the combined pill with dienogest and silymarin proved to be effective in reducing pelvic pain associated with endometriosis, as well as improving the sexual quality and well-being of the patients analyzed. It can therefore be concluded that the use of these drugs is related to an improvement in various factors related to endometriosis, providing greater comfort and a better quality of life for women.
