Record of violence against the elderly between the years 2023-2024

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the records of violence against the elderly between the years 2023-2024. Observational, retrospective, descriptive, quantitative study with analysis of reports of violence registered in the database of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship between the years 2023 and 2024. The information was treated statistically using the study variables. Through the analysis of the study variables with 143,595 complaints in the year 2023 in relation to the year 2024 with 179,615 and 2024 identifying an increase of 25.08% in registered occurrences. The southeast region with the highest number of complaints with 53.54% of records in 2023 compared to the year 2024 with a quantity of 52.83%. Between the years 2023 and 2024, the age group with the highest percentage of violence remained in those aged 80 or over, with females being the most vulnerable. The race/color of the elderly victim of violence was mostly white, also remaining during the period studied. The undeclared item was a limiting factor in the study. It is important that research is carried out to analyze regional realities with a view to mitigating the peculiarities that many families face.
