Abstract

Covid-19 is an important public health issue. Thus, this study sought to analyze the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients with the disease that were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a reference hospital in the municipality of Parauapebas in the state of Pará, between March 2020 and April 2021. In this descriptive and cross-sectional study, the epidemiological and clinical data were obtained from the official databases of the Epidemiological Surveillance of the Municipal Health Department of Parauapebas. Demographic and cartographic data were obtained from the official databases of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. For the spatial distribution analysis, a choropleth map was created using the ArcGis 10.5 software. There were 525 cases of Covid-19 admitted to the Adult ICU. The analysis of the epidemiological and clinical profiles of the disease showed a higher percentage of cases in males (66.48%), elderly (49.33%), with evolution to death (62 .4%), hypertensive (41.27%) and diabetic (37.95%). The analysis of the spatial distribution of cases had a non-homogeneous pattern of disease occurrence in the municipality. The results obtained in this research follows the national epidemiological scenario of the disease. It is possible to conclude that it affected elderly individuals who had pre-existing diseases more severely. We emphasize the need to intensify epidemiological surveillance actions in order to mitigate its impacts.
