Abstract

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a type of cancer that affects the portion of the large intestine, known as the colon, rectum and anus. Objectives: To describe the epidemiological profile of women who died from colorectal cancer in Brazil. Methods: Epidemiological, descriptive, exploratory study, with a quantitative approach of cases registered in the Mortality Information System (SIM), through the website of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) and the TABNET application, through CID 10 , in the following selected categories: C-18 (malignant neoplasm of colon), C-19 (malignant neoplasm of rectosigmoid junction), C-20 (malignant neoplasm of rectum), and C-21 (malignant neoplasm of anus and anal canal), in all regions of Brazil, from 2016 to 2020. Results: 36,687 deaths were computed. The year 2020 had the highest prevalence of deaths and the year 2016 had the lowest. The age group was 70 to 79 years old, with low education, white color/race and married marital status, with a higher rate of cases. The region with the highest number of cases was the Southeast. Conclusion: With the increasing number of deaths every decade of life, early detection is essential for tracking the disease.
