Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the average length of stay in hospital admissions and the mortality rate due to acute myocardial infarction in the 4 Macro-Regional Health Areas in the state of Pará. This is an ecological, cross-sectional study, carried out with secondary data. Monthly data was collected, by place of residence, on the number of hospitalizations and average length of stay due to AMI and deaths, from January 2020 to August 2023, by macroregion. The mortality rate was calculated and simple linear correlation was used, with Pearson's correlation coefficient, to compare the mortality rate with the average length of hospital stay per month. A higher percentage of patients aged 50 to 79 years old stands out, with more than 60% of patients in the 4 Macro-regions. There was a significant correlation between average length of stay and mortality rate in Macroregional IV (0.577, with p < 0.0001). It is concluded that despite the trend of AMI in the Macro-regions of the state of Pará following the national trend in some cases, this disease has particularities in these regions, presenting itself in a heterogeneous way in the state of Pará.
