Filmes Mucoadesivos Matriciais para Liberação de Fármacos na Cavidade Oral no Tratamento da Mucosite em Pacientes Oncológicos: Desenvolvimento e Aceitabilidade
Abstract
Cancer treatment often triggers oral mucositis, affecting a large number of patients. Mucositis is a localized lesion that requires topical treatment with few therapeutic alternatives. This study aims to develop a mucoadhesive matrix drug release system for the treatment of oral mucositis. Using the electrospinning technique, polymers such as poly(lactic acid) and poly(ethylene oxide) were used to produce a mucoadhesive film. The sensory test was carried out on a group of 20 patients, treated at an oncology clinic in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina. The results indicated that the ideal composition of the system was PLA 16% and PEO 12%. Parameters such as voltage of 15 kV, distance from the needle to the collector of 15 cm and flow rate of 1 mL/h proved to be more suitable for the electrospinning of membranes. The attributes of appearance, flavor and texture were well evaluated, and the overall evaluation obtained an average score of 7.07 on a scale of 0 to 10, demonstrating the acceptability of the pharmaceutical form by patients. The acceptability analysis indicated a positive reception of the mucoadhesive film, suggesting the creation of an alternative for the treatment of oral mucositis.
