Efeito imediato de sessão única de Pilates sobre o limiar de tolerância de dor à pressão em indivíduos com dor lombar e saudáveis
Abstract
The objective this study was evaluate the immediate effect of the Pilates method on the pressure pain tolerance threshold in individuals with and without low back pain. This was a single-blind randomized study, in which 66 adult individuals participated, divided into 4 groups: individuals with low back pain submitted to the Pilates method, group without low back pain undergoing the Pilates method, control with low back pain, control without low back pain. The pressure pain tolerance threshold (PPT) was assessed using algometry at the following points: upper trapezius, vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, quadratus lumborum, gluteus maximus, lumbar paravertebral muscles, L4-L5 supraspinous ligament, plantar fascia and patellar tendon. The Pilates intervention groups received the technique for 60 minutes on the floor. The Pilates group with low back pain had a significant increase in the pressure pain tolerance threshold after intervention at the right plantar fascia (p=0.048), left quadratus lumborum (p=0.051), right gluteus maximus (p=0.018), right (p=0.005) and left paravertebral lumbar muscles (p=0.054), and in the left supraspinous ligament (p=0.016). Individuals with a history of low back pain undergoing the Pilates method may increase the pressure PPT in some regions after a single session of Pilates.
