Murraya koenigii: A PLANT WITH HIGH BIOTECHNOLOGICAL POTENTIAL

Abstract

The use of natural compounds has been a promising alternative to control contaminating microorganisms in fermentation, such as natural biocides. This study presents the potential of Murraya koenigii for application in biotechnological processes. The scientific production related to the plant in bibliographic databases was analyzed. Most studies focus on the area of biotechnology, focusing on the antimicrobial activity of the plant, suggesting a higher content of bioactive compounds in the leaves. M. koenigii is an important medicinal plant with multiple applicability and benefits for health and other biotechnological processes, being a promising candidate for the development of natural antibiotics.
