Perfil epidemiológico dos óbitos por doenças hipertensivas no período de 2018 a 2023 em Palmas, Tocantins.
Abstract
Systemic Hypertension (SH) is considered a chronic non-communicable disease of multifactorial origin and the main modifiable risk factor independently associated with cardiovascular diseases (CVD). It is often an asymptomatic condition that progresses with functional and/or structural changes in target organs such as the brain, heart, kidneys, and blood vessels. The objective of this study was to outline the profile of deaths from hypertensive diseases in Palmas (TO) from 2018 to 2023. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of mortality data from 2018 to 2023 related to deaths by residence, classified under the ICD-10 categories associated with hypertensive diseases (I10, I11, I12, I13, and I15), obtained from the DATASUS website using TABNET WIN32 3.3 after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results showed that the male population (53%) was the most affected by hypertensive diseases, with a higher prevalence of deaths among individuals of mixed-race/skin color (53%). The age group with the highest prevalence of deaths was ≥80 years old. The findings highlight the need for further studies on this topic, as well as increased investment in preventive measures, early diagnosis, and treatment of SH.
