Epidemiological Profile and Temporal Trend of Suicide Mortality in Marabá, PA: From 2010 to 2020

Abstract

Objective: To determine the epidemiological profile and temporal trend of suicide mortality in the municipality of Marabá, in the state of Pará, from 2010 to 2020. Method: A cross-sectional study of a quantitative nature carried out using date made available by SINAN in the municipality of Marabá, Pará, based on date on intentional self-inflicted injuries from 2010 to 2020. Study with secondary date, with no need for presentation to the Research Ethics Committee. Results: There were 156 deaths by suicide recorded, with a predominance of male deaths (85.26%), in the age group of 20 to 29 years (23.71%), brown race/color (83.33%), education of 4 to 7 years (31.41%), single marital status (60.89%) and the place of greatest occurrence was at home (69.59%) . Conclusion: The greatest vulnerability was highlighted in the epidemiological profile presented. In addition, suicide is highlighted as a significant public health problem that has been increasing over time.
