Sociodemographic, Obstetric and Breastfeeding Profile of Mothers Who Breastfeed Children Under One Year Old Registered in the Family Health Strategy

Abstract
Objective: To describe the sociodemographic, obstetric, and BF profile of mothers who breastfeed young children registered in the family health strategy. Material and Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach carried out with mothers who breastfeed children under one year of age, registered in the family health strategy. Data collection was carried out between September 2021 and August 2022. An adapted form from the II Breastfeeding Prevalence Survey in Brazilian Capitals and the Federal District was used, and soon after the data were processed with descriptive statistics. Results: It was observed that most mothers were between 20 and 29 years old, were married, had between 10 and 12 years of education, did not have formal employment during pregnancy, were housewives, had a family income between one and two minimum wages, were multiparous, had no history of abortion, attended prenatal care, received guidance on breastfeeding during consultations, and stayed with the baby during the first hour of life. Conclusions: The results of this study can serve as a stimulus for practices to support and encourage breastfeeding to be developed in primary care.
