Epidemiological profile of women with Fibromyalgia in the far north of Espírito Santo
Abstract
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome characterized by diffuse musculoskeletal pain of non-inflammatory origin, being considered one of the most frequent rheumatological conditions in the world, where, according to the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology, it affects about 2.5% of the country's population. , most of whom are women. Thus, this study aimed to understand the profile of women with fibromyalgia in municipalities in the far north of Espírito Santo, analyze the sociodemographic profile and understand the limitation caused by fibromyalgia in their daily activities and the possibilities of physiotherapy in this scenario. Data collection was carried out through an electronic questionnaire with contributions from the questionnaires described in the SF-36 and QIF literature, where, after exclusion criteria, 68 responses from fibromyalgia women were analyzed, where the group included an average age of 48 years, being in most of them married, with predominant family income less than two minimum wages. As for the influence of fibromyalgia on activities of daily living, 87% of fibromyalgia women felt limited to carry out their activities due to FM, in addition to most of them having intense/very intense pain, which interferes with both occupational and leisure activities, emphasizing the impact of FM on these women's lives.
