The role of the partner in Family planning: na integrative review

Abstract

The partner's role in family planning is often considered restricted, due to the fact that a prototype has been formed that family issues concern women more than men. As a result, responsibilities for unplanned pregnancies often fall on women. It is also important to consider the blurring of the image given to men in health services, this favors their mentality that the issue is restricted to women. The objective is to investigate the partner's participation in family planning. This is an integrative review obtained through a survey of electronic data that aggregates evidence found in studies prepared using different methodologies. The study resulted in a reflection on the importance of partners in family planning and sexist and exclusionary positions that do not recognize the importance of support and participation of partners in that process
