Prevalência dos Casos de Sífilis Adquirida em jovens e adultos entre os anos de 2017-2021 na região Sudeste do Brasil

Abstract

Introduction: Acquired Syphilis (AS) is transmitted through sexual intercourse, when diagnosed and treated early, it limits the development of clinical manifestations in patients. Therefore, the present study aimed to describe the sociodemographic profile of AS cases in young people and adults in the Southeast region of Brazil between the years 2017-2021. Materials and Methods: Descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional analysis of cases reported by SINAN during this period and location. Results: The Southeast region represented the largest portion of the data 47.56%, it was seen that the largest portion of these cases were male 62.79%, the main age group was 20-39 years 85.07%. Discussion: Between 2017 and 2019 there was a 30.8% increase in the number of notifications. It was observed that, between 2020 and 2021, there was a drop in the detection of AS, and this fact is mainly due to the context of the coronavirus pandemic. It is also worth highlighting that underreporting and the necessary social distancing were also decisive for this situation. Conclusion: it is highlighted that the public health sectors must take measures to prevent, treat and improve the quality of life of the affected population to avoid greater expenditure on the consequences of SA infections.
