Psychotherapeutic Intervention in Patients Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia
Abstract
Fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) causes changes in the patient's physiology, emotions and behaviors, in addition to signs and symptoms that may vary from person to person. It is known that psychotherapy is a treatment indicated on a recurring basis for understanding the pathology and relieving pain. From this perspective, the present study intended to evaluate the contributions of psychological support to patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia. This is field research, exploratory and descriptive, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. 15 participants diagnosed with fibromyalgia, aged between 25 and 65 years, participated in the study. It was found that there was an improvement in the patients after the second session of individual and therapeutic group care, due to the reception and support offered to them. It was observed that most of the women diagnosed had psychological problems arising from traumatic experiences that considerably influenced the worsening of the fibromyalgia condition.
