Cardiorespiratory aptitude of bobybuilders of the city Gurupi-TO

Abstract

The cardiorespiratory fitness is an overall health indicator, however many bodybuilders did not perform specific training to improve this variable. The main objective of this research is to investigate the cardiorespiratory fitness of bodybuilders from the city of Gurupi - TO. As secondary objective the research evaluated the percentage of fat and the body mass index of bodybuilders from the city of Gurupi – TO. Material and method: the sample was made by 12 volunteers from 18 to 30 years old, residents of the city of Gurupi - TO who train in the academies of the central region of the city. Were measured the percentage of fat (%F), body mass index (BMI) in addition to performing a cycle ergometer test to determine the maximum oxygen consumption. The main results of the study indicate that the investigated group presents a normal classification for the body mass index, below the average, in relation to the percentage of fat, however, the cardiorespiratory fitness it is bad. It concludes with this research that bodybuilding is not an effective method for improving the cardiorespiratory aptitude of the evaluated population. In addition, the hypothesis was confirmed because we pointed out that the subjects did not present values within normal standards for the variable of cardiorespiratory fitness.
