Abstract

The Ewing method explores the feedback circuit of the baroreceptor reflex pathway, allowing us to quantify possible changes in vagal-sympathetic tone. The aim of the study was to determine the autonomic functional index of UnirG students as a control protocol. Five clinical trials were carried out on groups of healthy individuals and those with previous/current illnesses. The means and standard deviations of the scores were 0.48 (0.72) and 2.42 (1.74), respectively, with a significant result in the bilateral Mann-Whitney test (p = 0.0002). It can be concluded that the Ewing method showed relative accuracy and specificity with feasibility, given its accessibility, low cost and easy handling.
