Abstract
Introduction: Climacteric is a long phase in a woman's life marked by low production and alteration of hormones that cause several symptoms and may represent a critical point in women's lives. Objective: To verify the knowledge of the female public about climacteric and the nutritional strategies used. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with women aged 19 to 65 years, through the Google Forms platform, through a questionnaire. Regarding knowledge of climacteric, 79.82% knew the meaning of climacteric, 50.46% knew how to identify climacteric symptoms and 72.48% reported knowing that non-pharmacological alternatives can help to improve climacteric symptoms. Regarding the consumption of phytoestrogens, 48.62% rarely consumed foods rich in isoflavones and 56.88% consumed foods rich in coumestans daily.
