Motivations and Professional Trajectory of Graduates from a Multi-Professional Residency Program in Family Health
Abstract
Abstract: The objective of this article is to present the reasons that motivated graduates to seek the training offered in a Multiprofessional Residency Program in Family Health (PRMSF) and how the residency influenced the professional trajectory of these graduates. This is qualitative research, carried out with 17 graduates of the PRMSF from the municipality of Cascavel-PR. The three groups, formed between 2018 and 2022, participated, consisting of nurses, dentists and social workers. Data were collected through interviews guided by a semi-structured questionnaire, on online platforms. They were transcribed and subjected to Bardin Content Analysis. Among the motivations, the following stand out: the need to deepen knowledge in Public Health; to overcome the incipient undergraduate training, in terms of preparation to work in Primary Health Care; to experience, in practice, concepts learned during graduation and to secure a paid employment relationship. Regarding entry into the world of work, the main difficulties are entry into public services due to the lack of competitions and selection tests and, also, the devaluation of the specialty in the work environment. Therefore, it is necessary to expand discussions on the training of human resources in health, with a view not only to qualifying workers, but also to valuing them.
