Comportamento suicida: perfil dos usuários de um Serviço Escola de Psicologia de uma Universidade do Sul do Tocantins nos últimos cinco anos
Abstract
Introduction: Suicide continues to be one of the leading causes of death in the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), and is responsible for one in every 100 deaths. Brazil ranks 8th among the countries with the highest suicide rates. Suicidal behavior can be defined as self-inflicted death with evidence that the person intended to die, consciously and intentionally. Objective: To investigate the number of cases of suicidal attempt/behavior attended at a School of Psychology Service of a University in the south of Tocantins in the last five years. Methodology: This was documental research, of quantitative and descriptive nature, carried out at the Psychology Service of the University of Gurupi-UnirG. The documents in question were registration and screening forms filed with users registered in this service, with the target audience being anyone and everyone who has filed a suicidal complaint – whether ideation, planning or history of attempt – as the main justification for its consultation between the years 2019 and 2023. Results: with the development of the research, the data were found that the year that most occurred was 2019, followed by 2022 and 2023. The year 2025, due to the School of Psychology Service being closed because of Covid-19, the number of users was much less with this complaint
